Is SPY in positive or negative gamma today?
The panel below shows SPY's current dealer gamma regime from the latest options snapshot, with its time. Positive gamma means dealer hedging tends to dampen moves and pin price near large strikes; negative gamma means hedging tends to extend moves. The regime can change during the day as price crosses the gamma flip.
Dealers dampen moves: mean-reversion and pinning toward walls.
How to use it
Traders use the regime to set expectations for range: tighter, mean-reverting sessions in positive gamma; wider, trending sessions in negative gamma. It says how hard moves may run, not which way.
How often it updates
GammaPulse recomputes it from the SPY options chain about once a minute during the regular session. Outside market hours the last session's reading is shown with its time.
